[shadow=blue,left,300]Dusk slowly began to falter behind the snowy horizon. Snow flakes began to drift in the soft, chill breeze. A hot breath escaped into the air, and seemed to evaporate in the air. Bright, red blood dripped out onto the snow, just like the snowflakes. A beautiful rose in a dead world. Huff... Huff... Huff... The dark wolves eyes were widened to a wide degree, the pupiless, blue orbs shimmering in the center of the milky white of his eye. He panted, his tongue lolling out over blood tipped canines. He let himself sink to the ground, snow catching onto his dark fur. He shook himself awake. It had been two months since the last time he had eaten. This had been a feast. A Grand One.
Ferine had been out wandering far away, but still on pack grounds. He let his eyes raise to study the sides of the hollow basin he was in. The walls raising above him threateningly, like a cage. Such was his new... home?
He looked back to the limp body some yards away from himself. Cannabilism. He shook his head, sneezing from the cold, and stood to bury the corpse. The wolf should not have stood up to him.
Ferine stalked away in the falling snow, the deed done and his stomach no longer grumbling. Which way had he come from? Where was he to go now?[/shadow]

He carried his head down, almost in a submissive posture. Crisp air buffeted and tugged at his fur, his beautiful ebony coat. Sleek gray mixed in with the milky blackness, reflecting and spreading light almost by convection. A waste of beauty and grandeur.
The dark wolf turned his head up to the winds, sniffing. His stomach churned hungrily as the taste of blood swept through his navel cavities, and he winced. Slowly at first he trotted himself towards the smell, and slower even he recognized he familiarity in the sent. And then one he didn't recognize. Intruders. His lips attempted a snarl, putting on a show of phony bravado that had no intention of staying.
Nymin stopped before the wretched wolf, head lowered and nose sniffing. Cannabilism was the last thing he was thinking of, hadn't even crossed his mind. To have something so evil and so unnatural as that to happen was well out of his reach of comprehension. But there it was, the smear of blood staining the ground. Mixing with slavia from the intruders gaping mouth. A patch of mangled flesh and blood was unrecognized as a wolf by sight, but unmistakable by smell. Nymin looked up at the intruder again, eyes dilated and brain whirring. The wolf was in no way craven, but he had a knack for staying alive. And running into murders was not the best way to go about doing it.
OOC~ Sorry if it's ugly. Brain-dead

[shadow=blue,left,300]Ferine raised his muzzle farther towards the bland sky, taking a deep whiff of crisp air. The land around him hadn't changed much since he was gone, but one scent was missing. That alpha... The scent of blood filled his nostrils as he took a second inhale, but ignored it, leaving it behind. A third scent showed that another wolf was in the surrounding area.
Ferine's body stopped in it's twitching motion away from the grave he had buried, his muscles giving firm twitches and his hackles raising. He jerked his cranium around, snarling in warning in case the wolf was a stranger to the land.
It was. The scent was not familiar to him.
Ferine gave a wheezing noise, and continued his jerky movements back towards the land he knew best. He would speak to no stranger, if this wolf wished to show himself, so be it.[/shadow]

Nymin had no intention of showing himself, being rather a stranger -hem, intruder- on this land himself. Nevertheless he rather had an obligation to make sure there was tabs on this new wolf. Spying and slinking and cheating and lying.
The wolf followed close behind, aware that his sent must be reeking and begging to be noticed, but the stranger did nothing. Why? Why? Well, he didn't know, but he was sure there must be a reason. He would see what this murder was all about, as much as Nymin was loath to do it.

[shadow=blue,left,300]The brutes body traveled onward in it's jerky motions, stumbling and trudging through the snow. He gave a hard sneeze as a snow flake landed on his nose, and he shook his head. His muscles gave a sharp twitch and the sudden movement, and pain jolted up his legs, and danced around his spinal cord, but he did not flinch. He turned his gaze downward, calmly as if to stare at a passing ant in the cold powder, but what he saw was no ant.
Fresh blood crept down his fore leg, dripping down and melting the snow like a poisonious venom. He cursed at himself for opening the old wound.
Staggering a bit farther on, he realized the wolf somewhere behind him was still... lurking. Ferine heaved a sigh, heavy and coated with the sugary tone of annoyance, and he turned his icy gace around.
Was this wolf begging to be noticed? Was the brute somewhere behind a... show offy kind of creature?
Nay, if it was show offy, it would've bragged about it's hideaway long ago.
No matter. Ferine jerked his body around to stand facing the stranger, and raised his head in an alpha like appearance. If anyone was show offy, it was he. But he would never admit it, too much pride. "Who are you, stranger." he barked aloud, his voice bouncing along the edges of the mountainous slopes yards away from him. "Why do you seem to stalk me? I have done nothing wrong," he was going to end it there, but realizing he had done something, he quickly edited, "To you."[/shadow]

Nymin started at being addressed lick this with no warning. The cur watched from behind a tree, eyes wide with fear. But what had he to fear? A quick glance revealed that the murderer was injured, possibly beyond chasing him. The ebony brute took no chances and made no provoke.
But the way the other held himself demanded much from Nymin, and the wolf found himself slipping from his hiding place. His mussels were ridged as he stood before the newcomer, head lowered by its own will.
"Well," he said in a quiet slow voice, "stalking is rather a bit of an overstatement."

[shadow=blue,left,300]Ferine watched the ebony brute appear from his hideaway. He raised himself higher, to make sure he was seen as supreme, even if it was just a lie.
His auds perked and twitched as the stranger spoke. He allowed the faint twitch of a smirk on his black lips, but it soon faded and his face hardened.
"Well, it seems like it." he replied. "If you're not stalking me,what are you doing then? You don't even smell familiar to this territory." Ferine took a hard exhale from his nostrils as he finished, and took in fresh, crisp air.
Perhaps if he showed this brute no fear, and accused him of things, the brute wouldn't question him. He hoped so. If this wolf had seen his dastardly deed, those claims of him being a murderer might become true.
So, he'd fake his authority in hopes of being seen as clean. And hopefully this wolf wouldn't be of his old lands. The chances of that were very low though, so already it was half way out of this mess.[/shadow] (Brain dead? I hate when that happens... it's alright though.)

Nymin faltered. He wasn't really a member of this land, just a neighbor, rather. His pack's influence was spreading, though. This very well could be part of their territory. This new brute smelled slightly of these lands, but it was mingled and hiding amongst other smells, almost like it was frightened to show itself.
He watched the stranger closely for a moment, searching, and his eyes flickered quickly to the stranger's injured leg. Nymin hoped that went unnoticed. No need to provoke any hard feelings. Not this early in a relationship.
"Well, I'm not stalking. Only…observing?" he wasn't sure if those were the right words for that, but whatever. Gah, this stranger made him uncomfortable. "You yourself smell familiar to these lands, but never had I seen you before. And it is an…unclean smell. Only partially of this wood." He scanned the murder one more time, beyond the point of nervous quivering, but afraid all the same.

[shadow=blue,left,300]He waited for the brutes answer, and watched his eyes study him, and go towards his wound. It was only a glance, it could've been mistaken for a catch at the snow. But the blood wasn't hard to notice.
He raised his lips slowly to give a snarl of warning, but stopped himself as the stranger answered him.
Observing? What a fairly interesting word to use.
Another smirk flickered on his lips as he caught the lingering scent of fear emitting from the brute. He could win this. He would not falter.
He paused his thoughts to listen to the rest of what he had to say. He shook his head slightly to clear his thoughts, then cleared his throat.
"I smell familiar because I am familiar to these lands. I cannot help it if you've never seen me, I prefer rather to be hidden anyway."
He raised his cranium farther towards the sky, a hard growl radiating inside his neck. "Does my scent bother you?" he half snarled. "I cannot help it if I seem to wander about every once and awhile."
Ferine gave a small shiver, and turned his head around, to look back to where the center of the land lay. It smelled empty. What had happened?
He turned back to the stranger. He could not worry about such things now, he had different things to worry on at the moment. [/shadow]

His fur slightly flared along his spine at the murder's harsh tone. Nymin forced it to lay flat, not waning to appear craven before this newcomer. Who knows what could go wrong then. Heheh--
"You smell of death." He said softly, eyes not even daring to glance at the wound. Nymin couldn't help what he smelled, though. And it was rather queer that the smell should be wafting out of the brute's mouth. Nymin wanted to gag. Wanted to lash out, run away. It was driving his mind into a fit, cranking out all the things the beast before him had done. Could do. Could a wolf like this really be a familiar to these once peaceful lands?
Despite that all, the ebony stayed quiet. He absentmindedly ground his paws into the snow until his mitts became partially numb, sending needles up his legs.

[shadow=blue,left,300]Another smirk played on his lips. A direct hit. He could make it out of here...[/shadow] "You smell of death." [shadow=blue,left,300]Ferine stopped breathing for a moment. Was the scent that strong? His eyes flashed in fury. He was not about to be blamed for this. Not again.
He watched carefully as the brute pawed the snow. Was it a nervous reaction?
Hm. Maybe he still had a chance.
"And?" he replied, keeping his tone strong and his head high. "The land itself smells of death. What's happened here anyway? Besides death, it smells empty." he paused for a moment, taking another whiff of the air. "Besides the reeking smell of decayment, it smells empty. You should be able to tell me what's happened here, right?"[/shadow]

Nymin tried an experimental sniff. He smelled no decay, but that was possibly because he had grown used to these lands. What had happened here?
He gave a pause, not sure if he wanted to explain anything to this wolf. He would rather not deny this murder anything even less.
"Everything just went silent. Most likely, it happened over time and we were all just to blind to see it. Anyway you see it, the wood just went dead. There has been no fighting here. Sickness is a possibility, but if the case it only struck some. "
Nymin blinked, hoping whatever message he was trying to say got through. Was too hard to tell with this cold new stranger.
"Do you bring more death?" Boldness that surprised even him.

[shadow=blue,left,300]Ferine listened calmly to his explantion. Well, that's strange. He thought. Before I had left, this place was... a little paradise for the likes of them. How can a pack once so lively just dissapear and go... dull?
He escaped his thoughts at the brutes sudden question.[/shadow]
"Do you bring more death?"
[shadow=blue,left,300]Ferine raised his eyes at the sudden firmness to his tone. He cocked his head over to one side. That was a question, almost similiar to what a child would ask him. It just sounded... quiet and unnatural.
There was a sudden ping in his mind. Do you bring more death, my darling? That voice asked him. Haha, yes. Do you wish to kill more? Still not enough wolf blood lingering on your lips, no. The scent of your sisters blood is still on your breath, but you are not satisfied... the voice mocked him.
He raised his cranium and furrowed his brow. "No." he answered. "I do not wish to bring death. I never have, and I never will."
The voice in his head spoke nothing but lies. Nothing but lies... [/shadow]

"You never brought death." Nymin echoed in a quiet tone. His eyes danced now in open anger. He was sure what he say now. This wolf was a cannibal, the lowest forms of abominations crawling the earth. It made his skin itch, and once more he wanted to gag. Flee, tare. Yadda yadda. This one had dared come back to his empty lands, and now there was fresh wolf blood and a new death to tally up.
A very large abomination, granted.
The tingling in his paws intensified, spreading now up to his shoulders. He pried his paws from the earth, disturbed by the lack of fear he didn't feel.

[shadow=blue,left,300]Ferine tilted his head again at the brutes open anger. His own started to flow.
Even if the wolf decided to attack, he would tak him down, even if he was wounded. Though, he'd be just as happy to let his life slip away. He didn't deserve to live.
"So," he barked out. "It seems you're going to attack me on blind faith alone."
Another smirk spread on his lips, but it faded with his oncoming anger. He was not afraid to show that he had eaten the other wolf, lying in it's grave somewhere away from him. He was no longer going to hide the truth.
"You're going to attack me because you think I killed the brute, that's what you think, eh?" His brow tightened. "I'll have you know I would never do such a thing. My hunger though, is another matter."
He nodded firmly, settling himself in a position of offense, ready to attack if the other wolf decided to as well.
"If you wish to try and take me, so be it."[/shadow]
